Jillian Mundy

I'm a visual artist from Toronto, Ontario, currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Drawing inspiration from both flora and fauna; my aesthetic can be described as flowing line works that incorporate surreal elements. I use swirling patterns and bold saturated colours intending to create movement throughout my psychedelic landscapes.

I’ve had both friends and partners who have struggled with addiction. The common thread I’ve observed is that people very often are trying to escape their hardships through using. In some ways, visual art has become my escape. Rather than follow the same path, the people around me have served as cautionary tales and inspired me to put my energy into productivity rather than cause harm to myself and my loved ones. A good friend of mine teaches art therapy as a means of rehabilitation and I’ve taken her lessons to heart when we’ve spoken about the healing nature of being creative.
