Sophie McKenzie

Sophie McKenzie (she/her) is an artist, storyteller, and academic passionate about the human side of the illicit drug toxicity crisis. She works at the BC Centre for Disease Control as a project assistant for the Peer2Peer Project, which aims to identify, implement and evaluate peer-led support interventions for peers working in overdose response settings in BC. This September, I am beginning a Masters degree in Anthropology at UBC, focussing on the collective experience of grief faced by women who use substances due to the drug toxicity crisis. In her spare time, she dances professionally, practices oil portraiture, and is a singer/songwriter.
